How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster, Part 2

How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster, Part 2

Last month we listed a couple of healthy lifestyle changes you can implement into your diet in order to make your hair grow faster. Today we will be discussing part 2 of how to make your hair grow faster by making simple yet effective changes and why these changes work.

Limit using heat on your hair

Applying heat on your hair does more damage than good. Yes, your hair may look flawless in the meantime, but the reality is that every time heat is applied on the hair whether it be through a hair straightener, a blow dryer, or a curling iron, the heat is breaking down the hair’s hydrogen bonds which strips the hair away from essential natural oils and proteins. The hair depends on these natural oils and proteins in order to grow healthy and strong yet heat damage can get rid of these oils and eventually cause the hair to become dry, brittle, and thin over time. Limiting the amount of heat that you use on your hair, can help the hair retain the necessary nutrients for proper growth.

Avoid dying your hair

Dying your hair can have damaging effects on the hair follicles by making them dry and brittle, which could lead to breakage and hair loss. Hair loss can stem from hair dying because hair dye has to penetrate through the hair cuticle in order to enter the hair shaft and produce a new color. The hair cuticle is not supposed to be opened or lifted, and doing so causes the hair to be more prone to damage.

Trim your ends

Making sure that you are getting rid of any dead, dry, brittle and uneven hair pieces such as split ends, means that your hair will grow out more evenly, healthier looking, and will experience less breakage. Establishing healthier growth and getting rid of damaged ends, will allow for the hair to sustain its quality and its length.

Don’t brush your hair while it is wet

Brushing one’s hair while it is wet can potentially lead to hair loss and breakage as the hair is at a weaker phase when wet than when it is dry. Therefore, brushing it while wet creates tension on individual strands and can cause the hair to break, producing frizzy and uneven looking hair in the long run. Not brushing the hair while it is wet will allow your hair to maintain an even length and experience less breakage.

Use the right towel to dry your hair

The reason why using the right towel to dry your hair is important is because hair is very fragile while it is wet, causing it to react to anything that it comes in contact with in a more intense manner. Regular drying towels, are not very absorbent and can make the hair drying process longer than what it would with a microfiber hair drying towel. Regular towels tend to have coarse and thick fibers that are rough on wet hair, which could oftentimes may lead to hair fall and can cause the hair to look frizzy. Making the change to a microfiber towel will dry your hair quicker and with less damage, for healthier looking hair.

Wear loose hairstyles

Hairstyles that are tight on the scalp can generate tension on the hair follicle causing hair to break off, and in more severe cases could even cause traction alopecia. Wearing loose hairstyles can help avoid breakage and hair loss, otherwise induced by tight hairstyles such as ponytails and tight braids, and may allow the hair to grow without worry of damage.

Use hair masks

Hair masks are extremely good for your hair and are known to highly improve the appearance and texture of the hair. Hair masks, whether you make them yourself at home or purchase them, are made mostly of natural ingredients and oils that are moisturizing and beneficial to the hair. Applying a hair mask at least once or twice a week is known to help repair damage and make the hair appear healthier and stronger which will allow the hair to grow faster and longer.

Massage your scalp

Adding a daily scalp massage to your routine is extremely beneficial for hair growth. A scalp massage, especially with the right products can help remove dead skin cells from the scalp as well as helps stimulate blood flow. The increased blood flow on the scalp will encourage hair to grow at a faster rate. For best results, it is recommended to make sure that one massages the scalp properly. In order to do so, one should flip their head upside down to encourage blood to rush to the scalp, and then begin to rub the scalp in circular motions either on its own or accompanied with essential oils or scalp products.

Use a scalp therapy treatment

The scalp is where hair follicles are located and grow from, which is why it is important to take care of it and why using a scalp therapy treatment will allow the hair to grow healthier and longer. There are various scalp related issues that may hinder the growth of your hair, including- dry itchy scalp, oily, flakey and irritated scalp, and hair thinning. Nonetheless, all of these issues can be resolved or relieved with the right scalp therapy treatment. One of the most effective scalp therapy treatments in the market include Active Care’s at-home scalp therapy treatments that are divided into four different regimens depending on specific scalp issues, they include the Active, Balance, Comfort, and Deep-Cleansing 3 step kits that are easy to follow and effective. The reason that these scalp therapy treatments work is because they are made with essential oils and plant-based ingredients that help to restore the health and beauty of the scalp and hair.

Switch to a silk pillowcase

Silk is a protein fiber that comes from the cocoons of mulberry silk worms. This hypoallergenic and amino acid filled fiber has amazing benefits to the hair as it causes less friction between the hair and the pillowcase, and prevents hair damage while you sleep. Silk pillowcases also don’t absorb as much oil as cotton pillowcases do, allowing for the natural oils and nutrients to remain on the scalp, for longer and healthier hair.

Whether or not you are a trying to grow your hair out, applying one or two of these hair growing tips to your life and hair care routine, will surely have a positive effect on the appearance and texture of your hair. Adjusting your eating habits and aiming for a healthier diet, handling your hair in a more careful way, and taking care of your scalp will all help towards accelerating the process of growing your hair.
